NEW DELHI: Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday hit out at the BJP for making “shameless attempts to subvert democracy in Maharashtra.”

“There is no doubt that the governor acted under the instructions of the Prime Minister and the home minister,” Sonia said, adding, ” every effort was made to blatantly sabotage the three-party alliance government formation but we appealed to the Supreme Court and the Modi-Shah government was totally exposed.”
The interim Congress president also attacked the government over the country’s economic condition.
“Growth is declining, unemployment is growing and investment is not happening,” Sonia told the party MPs
She added there is worsening distress among farmers, traders and small and medium businesses.
