Chhattisgarh: ITBP jawan shoots dead 5 colleagues, commits suicide | Raipur News

RAIPUR: At least six Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were killed and two injured in a clash among themselves in insurgency-hit Narayanpur district of Bastar division on Wednesday morning.
Chhattisgarh director general of police DM Awasthi has confirmed to TOI stating that there was a dispute among the ITBP jawans in the camp located in Narayanpur and one of the jawans opened fire from his rifle on his colleagues.
“The ITBP personnel who shot his five colleagues committed suicide with his own rifle and died on the spot. The injured were being air-lifted to Raipur for treatment. The IG and SP have just reached the spot and further details about what triggered the incident would be known soon,” DGP Awasthi said.
The incident took place around 9.30am at B/45 battalion of ITBP camp located in Kadenar region.
According to officials, constable Masudul Rahman who belonged to Nadia in West Bengal fired at and killed head constable Mahendra Singh (Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh), head constable Daljit Singh (Ludhiana, Punjab), constables Surjit Sarkar (Burdwan, West Bengal), Biswaroop Mahtoo (Purulia, West Bengal) and Bijeesh (Kozhikode, Kerala).
Two jawans who were injured and are undergoing treatment are constable SB Ullas (Tiruvandaapuram, Kerala) and constable Sitaram Doon (Nagour, Rajasthan).
