Several women personnel of Delhi Police told India Today TV about their experience on how after shedding their khaki uniform they feel unsafe in the city. India Today TV spoke to few of them at the Jantar Mantar where they were deputed to ensure security for women during the protest against the recent incidents of rapes in Hyderabad and Rajasthan.

Though with hesitation, they accepted the worsening situation in which the women of the country are living. Some of them said how their families keep contacting them when they are out on duty.

A constable belonging to Haryana and posted with Delhi Police shared how her parents call her several times while she commutes between home and office. She calls her parents on reaching office or during her stay at Delhi police line to ensure that she is safe and sound.

Another constable said that Delhi is unsafe and there is a sense of insecurity if she goes out alone in civilian clothes after dark. Another accepted that cases of eve-teasing and molestation are reported while women travel by public transport.

When questioned if they have personally been subjected to such teasing by men, knowing that they were in uniform on duty and on-camera, they tried avoiding answer.
