President Donald Trump focused Dr. Deborah Birx, a number one member of the White Home coronavirus job pressure, in a tweet Monday, complaining that she “hit us” following reported criticism of her from Home Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Trump mentioned on Twitter that Pelosi, D-Calif., had gone after Birx “as a result of she was too optimistic on the superb job we’re doing on combatting the China Virus, together with Vaccines & Therapeutics.“
“With a purpose to counter Nancy, Deborah took the bait & hit us. Pathetic!” Trump wrote.
It was not instantly clear which of Birx’s remarks Trump was referencing within the tweet. The White Home didn’t instantly reply to CNBC’s request for clarification.
Birx had warned on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that the U.S. had entered a “new section” in its battle in opposition to the virus.
“What we’re seeing at the moment is completely different from March and April. It’s terribly widespread … it is extra widespread and it is each rural and concrete,” Birx mentioned.
Trump’s tweet marks a shift in tone towards Birx, the White Home’s Covid-19 coordinator who had reportedly stayed in good standing with the president all through a lot of the pandemic.
Birx’s sobering feedback got here days after Pelosi had slammed her as “the worst,” in a closed assembly with White Home officers, Politico reported Friday.
